History:
In 1959, Alfa-Romeo unveiled the Giulietta 1300 SS (Sprint Speciale) at the Monza Autodrome. Designed by Franco Scaglione at Bertone, this car stands out with its sleek design and sporty intent, aimed at expanding the Giulietta's clientele. Equipped with a 1300cc engine derived from the Veloce, producing 100 hp thanks to two Weber DCOE2 carburetors, it offered impressive performance for its time. Produced in 1,366 units, the Giulietta SS 1300 later gave way to the Giulia with a 1600 cc engine. This rare model is particularly prized by collectors.
This example was delivered new in Marseille in 1961. For 50 years, it remained in the same family. After several years in a barn without running, the son took it out and undertook a restoration. It was then sold to an insurance broker who kept it for a short year. The current owner acquired it about ten years ago.
Few Alfa Giulietta SS models are in this condition, and even fewer have such a transparent history!
Condition:
General: Fully restored, this Giulietta SS is in excellent presentation condition.
Exterior: The paint, redone to perfection in 2009 in its original shade, still shines beautifully. All the chrome was replaced in 2011. They are in excellent condition, as are the wheels, hubcaps, and headlight optics.
Interior: The interior is in like-new condition. It was entirely redone in 2018 at Porres Clasicos. The two-tone leather, as well as the carpets and mats, are in excellent condition. The dashboard instruments are functional.
Mechanical: The engine, gearbox, and running gear have also been restored. Today, it starts immediately, idles smoothly, and revs up without issue. The gears shift smoothly, without hitch. Overall, the car’s road behavior is very good.
Undercarriage: The car’s undercarriage is healthy and free of corrosion. Photos are available on request.
