Our example was delivered new to its first owner in 1959, a pivotal year for this model as Rolls Royce released the Silver Cloud II. As such, this example is a Silver Cloud I, the last of the English company's models to be entirely hand-built with its six-cylinder engine, but benefiting from all the options present on the SC II (power steering, air conditioning, etc.). In left-hand drive, these Rolls Royces were assembled in the USA, and 262 of a total of 2238 were produced in this version.
This Rolls Royce was fully restored in Poland in 2008, before being purchased and imported to France by its current owner in 2010. 87,000 euros of work was carried out.
This car featured in Olivier Dahan's film "Grace of Monaco" (2014) with Nicole Kidman.
Condition:
General: This Rolls Royce is in very nice presentation condition. It has been fully restored to a very high standard.
Exterior: The bodywork is in excellent condition in every respect, the two-tone bronze and grey paintwork is brilliant. Slight defects are noted on the chrome trim. Bumpers, headlamps and windows are in excellent original condition.
Interior: The interior looks as good as new, combining luxury and English-style comfort. The beige leather upholstery is in superb condition, with no holes or tears. The same goes for the carpets and woodwork on board. We note one hole in the leather rear parcel shelf. All instruments are functional.
Powertrain: The six-cylinder Rolls Royce engine, fed by two SU carburetors, runs and starts perfectly hot and cold. The automatic gearbox shifts smoothly. A leak in the power-steering system should be noted, however. The car has benefited from regular servicing costs and its roadholding is very satisfactory.
Underbody : The chassis and structure of this Rolls Royce are sound. Photos are available on request.
Recent work:
Brakes redone
Wheel cylinders replaced
Brake servo replaced
Equipment :
Power steering
Genuine air conditioning
Car radio
Electric windows
Wooden folding rear shelf
Spare wheel and jack
