Volkswagen Karmann-ghia Cabriolet 1969 / Manual

History: This 1969 Volkswagen Karmann-Ghia was delivered new to San Francisco. It remained in California until its current owner imported it to France in 2020. It is important to note that this is a 1969.5 model, which benefited from the many improvements made to this model at the end of the model year. Only 6,500 units were produced for the 1969 model year, making it a very rare collector's car. The car is currently registered in France, but the owner has retained its American title and its 1969 Californian "black plate", which is extremely rare today. The owner also has a file of invoices, attesting to regular and careful maintenance. The car has just undergone a complete overhaul.

Condition: General: This example is in excellent condition. Exterior: The bodywork is in very good overall condition, the cypress green paintwork is smooth and has a beautiful shine. All removable parts, as well as the chrome trim, 15-inch Fuchs rims (genuine Porsche rims), mirrors and headlight lenses are also well preserved, reflecting the care taken with this car over the years. The light sand-coloured fabric soft top, with its imitation leather lining, is in excellent condition. Interior: The interior is in very good condition. All the upholstery is well maintained, with light sand-coloured grained leather seats offering both comfort and good support. The door trims, in matching grained imitation leather, enhance the harmony of the interior. The dashboard, covered with black imitation leather and varnished wood trim, is also in perfect condition. The dashboard instruments are functional. This model is equipped with a lockable glove compartment and a magnificent original ivory steering wheel with chrome trim. This Volkswagen Karmann-Ghia is equipped with a JL Audio amplifier, a Becker car radio and two USB ports.

Mechanics: Mechanically, the 4-cylinder engine runs perfectly. It starts instantly, revs up smoothly and without jerking, and idles steadily. No suspicious smoke is detected coming from the exhaust. The vehicle is equipped with a B6 engine, which is more powerful than the original H5 engine.
This 1,584 cc B6 flat-four engine develops 47 DIN horsepower at 4,100 rpm. The AH gearbox is a 4-speed synchronised manual with reverse gear. The vehicle is also equipped with disc brakes on the front wheels and drum brakes on the rear, all in very good working order.
