Citroën Ds Grand-palais 1972 2019 / Manual / 1800 km

In 1955, Citroën revolutionised the automotive world with its DS saloon car. Many versions followed, but never an official coupé. Gérard Godefroy himself took it upon himself to correct this oversight by designing the Grand-Palais.

Gérard Godfroy, a designer by trade – at Peugeot, Heuliez and then Venturi, which he founded in 1984 with Claude Poiraud – had the idea, the desire and the need to create his own DS, the missing coupé. The model that Citroën did not commission from Flaminio Bertoni, the designer of the production DS.

Godfroy's ambition was to invent the coupé that could have, and should have, appeared at the same time as the saloon, as much a tribute to Bertoni as a personal achievement. The Le Mans-based company Automotive joined forces with the famous designer, and this Citroën DS Grand-Palais is one of six cars produced and the only one to be registered worldwide.

Conceived in 2014 and built in 2019/2020, this car has been approved and validated by Stellantis, has its red bar and its "Grand-Palais" registration document (like the five others): it is a Citroën that is unique in the world and available on the market.

Based on the chassis of a Citroën DS 21 from April 1972, this DS is particularly well equipped and designed: - DS21 engine with electronic fuel injection, - hydraulic gearbox, - Two-tone metallic grey paintwork and opaque light grey roof,
- Fully customised upholstery and carpeting by a Hermès-trained upholsterer. All leather is saddle-stitched. - Modern car radio, - Hands-free telephone, - Air conditioning,
- Michelin whitewall tyres, - Boot fitted for golf bags with hatches under the rear seat, - 4 electric windows without central pillar when lowered, - Boot lit by LED strip and electric control, - The entire dashboard has been covered in leather, including the switchgear.
