Jaguar Xk140 Dhc Se 1956 / Manual

This car is a third hand. This Jaguar was delivered new in 1956 to the Ferrari importer in the Netherlands. Its second owner acquired it in 1983, still in the Netherlands. The car is owned by a French collector since 2009.

The XK140 is the successor to the XK120 and the precursor to the XK150. This model is a DHC (Drop Head Coupé) version. Compared with the OTS versions, the DHC features a soft-top system that is easier to deploy. This makes the car even more versatile.

Our example was restored in the early 2000s and has been very well looked after ever since. While many were imported from America, this one is of European origin, having been delivered to a Ferrari importer in the Netherlands in 1956. It is just emerging from a considerable batch of work at the end of 2022, so here it is, ready for new adventures.

History:

Condition :

Exterior: The bodywork is in excellent overall condition, carefully restored 20 years ago. The chrome has also been restored. The spoked wheels are new, as is the soft top.

Interior: The upholstery has a lovely patina. The walnut dashboard is in excellent condition. The wiring harness was obviously redone during the restoration, and the wiring is modern. All the instruments are functional.

Mechanical: The engine underwent a complete overhaul in 2011. It is in excellent working order. The car starts and runs well both hot and cold. The car revs well and shifts well. The MOSS gearbox is pleasant and fluid. The gears are well synchronised. The XK140's roadholding is very satisfactory and the disc brakes make the car safer.

Chassis and underpinnings: The underpinnings are sound, visibly free of accident marks.
