Dodge Challenger
Also introduced as a pony car in 1970, the Challenger disappeared in that form as early as 1974. In 2008, Dodge revived the model to compete with the new Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro. Production of the third-generation Challenger came to an end in 2023.
Dodge Charger
Unveiled in 1966, the first Charger was Dodge’s answer to the Ford Mustang. After a long hiatus, the Charger returns in 2024 as a coupé styled in tribute to the classic models of the past.
Dodge Viper
Developed with the help of Lamborghini, the Viper caused a sensation as a concept car at the 1989 Detroit Auto Show. It wasn’t until 1992 that the production model was released. Defined by the raw power of its V10 engine and its deliberately aggressive design, the Viper is a roadster with no real equivalent in the sports car market. Two more generations followed, also available as a coupé—the only body style offered for the third generation, which was discontinued in 2017.

Dodge Viper RT/10 : l'hommage improbable à la Cobra
Il serait exagéré de dire que l’on doit la Viper au français François Castaing, mais il faut bien l’avouer : l’homme avait pris une telle place chez Chrysler grâce à ses succès chez Jeep au sein d’AMC (lire aussi : Jeep Cherokee XJ), sa capacité à mettre en œuvre la fusion Chrysler/AMC et à réorganiser industriellement l’ensemble pour faire passer Chrysler de 59 à 32 mois pour le lancement d’un nouveau modèle qu’il fut d’un grand secours, avec Tom Gale, pour aider Bob Lutz à convaincre Lee Iaccoca de l’intérêt de lancer un fabuleux modèle d’image : la Dodge Viper RT/10 !

Edsel : petite histoire d'une marque météorique
« the wrong car, for the wrong market, at the wrong time », voilà ce que l’on apprend aujourd’hui dans toutes les écoles de commerce ou de marketing des Etats-Unis au sujet de la marque Edsel, météorique filiale de Ford à la fin des années 50. Le nom même d’Edsel est aujourd’hui employé pour désigner un échec commercial patenté ! Autant dire que le fiasco Edsel aura eu un certain retentissement à l’époque, au point d’être resté dans la mémoire collective.

Ford Mustang VI : l'ennivrant parfum de l'Amérique !
Deux jours après avoir rendu les clés de ma Mustang, il est temps d’écrire quelques lignes sur ce petit cheval venu d’Amérique. Les souvenirs sont encore clairs, les impressions aussi, et il faut battre le fer tant qu’il est chaud. Trois jours et 1400 bornes avec une voiture permettent d’en avoir une idée claire. Du moins je l’espère.
