History
CSX2501 is a genuine Shelby Cobra, registered in the Shelby register with a documented history. Originally delivered in September 1964 as a silver roadster. This example has undergone several restorations during its life.
Following these events, in 1998, renowned Cobra specialist Mike McCluskey acquired the chassis and undertook a complete rebuild under the supervision of Carroll Shelby himself. The chassis was sandblasted and reinforced before being fitted with the Daytona's specific structure. All the mechanical parts were returned to their original specifications, with the exception of the brakes, which were modernised with a Wilwood system. The restoration took around 15 months.
The car's history is very detailed, thanks to the many documents in the owner's possession. This car is one of eight Shelby Daytona Coupes rebuilt by McCluskey, a sought-after model that played a major role in the history of American motor racing.
A thorough appraisal was carried out in February 2025. It covers every aspect of the car, from its history to its condition, down to the smallest detail. This report is available on request.
