Alpine V6 Turbo Mille Miles : le début de la fin
En 1989, l’Alpine que l’on surnomme GTA va sur ses cinq ans et, même si les ventes restent encore honorables, la tendance est à la baisse avec notamment l’arrivée d’une concurrence nationale affûtée nommée MVS, tandis qu’une certaine Porsche 911 se mue en 964 pour dominer encore un peu plus de la tête et des hanches le marché de la sportive européenne. Chez Renault, on décide de coller un sparadrap en attendant mieux, et de proposer au marché une série spéciale de la V6 Turbo, du nom de Mille Miles.

Alpina B6 3.5 S : une M3 E30 et un 6 en ligne
La petite firme de Buchloe a toujours essayé de se démarquer du constructeur de Munich en proposant des produits différents, souvent typés plus “bourgeois”, au tempérament moins rageur sans renier l’idée de performance. Ainsi, Alpina avait lancé la B6 3.5 avant même le lancement de la M3 E30. Si le moteur (un 6 en ligne) offrait une puissance inégalée, le châssis, lui, restait un poil en retrait. Avec le lancement officiel de la M3, une nouvelle base s’offrait à Alpina, qui en profita pour lancer un nouveau modèle encore plus affûté, la B6 3.5 S, une lettre en plus faisant toute la différence.

Depuis la présentation de la 996, le constructeur souabe est en effet passé maître dans l’art de décliner une multitude de versions aux typages spécifiques sur la base d’un même concept, de la sorte décliné à l’infini, et peut-être même au-delà…

Au début des années 90, j’habitais dans le très chic XVIème arrondissement, rue de la Tour, et les BMW n’étaient pas rares dans le quartier. Aussi fallait-il pouvoir se démarquer tout en profitant de l’excellence bavaroise. Heureusement pour les parisiens épris de distinction et au portefeuille bien garni sévissait dans le populaire « 9-4 » une concession BMW peu ordinaire, capable de vous proposer de quoi rester discret tout en titillant le spécialiste : le Garage du Bac !

Alpina E36 B6, B3 et B8 : alternatives à la BMW M3
Lorsque la BMW M3 E36 est apparue en 1993, j’ai été, comme tout le monde, admiratif. Quelle voiture, quelle efficacité reconnue par l’ensemble de la presse automobile que je lisais assidûment à l’époque, quelle ligne aussi (lire aussi : BMW M3) ! Malheureusement, elle avait un défaut pour moi : elle séduisait tout le monde. J’étais déjà avide de différence, de distinction, et à voir fleurir tant de M3 sur les routes, je finissais pas me dire que c’était décidément trop « mainstream ». Heureusement, un petit constructeur allemand à la réputation déjà bien installée proposait lui aussi une version vitaminée de l’E36 : Alpina (voir ici pour une rapide histoire de la marque: Alpina). Ouf, je pouvais aimer une série 3 sportive sans rentrer dans le rang !
