History

First presented in 1961, the Jaguar E-Type was immediately hailed as "the most beautiful car in the world" thanks to its avant-garde design by Malcolm Sayer. The arrival of the 4.2-litre engine in October 1964 marked a significant evolution of the Series 1, significantly improving torque and offering greater driving pleasure. The 4,235cc XK in-line six-cylinder engine, fed by three SU carburettors, retained its 265bhp output but offered much more powerful acceleration. In addition, the 4.2 L models benefited from a new fully synchronised four-speed manual gearbox, resolving a weak point in the 3.8 L version. Other improvements to this sub-series included new seats and a more efficient braking system. The Series 1 4.2 L roadster is one of the most sought-after models among collectors for its balance between the pure design of the first series and its mechanical improvements. Today, it is a timeless icon of the sports car.

🇺🇲Cet was first registered in the United States in 1966.
🇧🇪Ce has been in the hands of its current owner since 1991. The car has benefited from a complete restoration, as evidenced by the more than €100,000 invested since its acquisition.

Conditions

This car is in very good condition.

The bodywork is in excellent condition. The green paintwork shows very well. It has a nice sheen and is tightly stretched. The headlights are in very good condition. The spoked wheels are new. The black soft top shows slight signs of wear.

Inside, the beige leather seats are very well preserved. The leather on the back of the driver's seat is slightly marked. The wooden steering wheel is a little cracked at the top of the rim. The dashboard and centre console are in very good condition. The car has a pre-connector for a car radio. The carpets and rugs look very good. The on-board instrumentation is functional.

⚙️Le The six-cylinder XK engine is the original one. It starts normally and revs smoothly. The gears of the synchronised gearbox shift smoothly and without creaking. Roadholding is good.
