History
Presented at the Earl's Court show in 1962, the Elan marked Lotus' first real commercial success. Designed around an ultra-rigid beam chassis, the car was featherweight and, when it came out, was powered by a robust 1600cc Ford Kent engine. This enabled the little roadster to offer first-rate performance, whether on the racetrack or in historic rallies (Tour Auto, Monte Carlo, etc.).
This car was first registered in May 1969. The car has been in the hands of its current owner since 1993.
