Lotus Elan 1969 / Manual

Presented at the Earl's Court Motor Show in 1962, the Elan was Lotus' first commercial success. The car was designed around an ultra-rigid beam chassis, was lightweight and was powered by a robust 1600cc Ford Kent engine when it was launched. All of which enabled this little roadster to put in first-class performances on the racetrack or in historic rallies (Tour auto, Monte Carlo, etc).

Our example is a Lotus Elan S4 that left the factory in 1969. This car was owned by real enthusiasts who improved its looks. The wings were widened, giving the roadster a chunky, sporty appearance, and the whole car was repainted in the same colours as the Lotus Elan Big Valve.

Exterior : The bodywork is in very good condition. It has been repainted in the original Lotus Elan S4 Big Valve colours, the result is of very good quality. Exterior components such as the soft top, chrome, windows, seals, wheels and headlights are also in very good condition. The headlamp lift system works well.

Interior: The interior has been cared for over the years and is in excellent condition. The woodwork and upholstery look good. The dashboard is also in good condition, and all the interior equipment is functional. The car is fitted with electric windows, a rare option at the time.

Mechanics: The engine is in very good working order. The suspension, braking and transmission systems are in good working order.

Chassis and underbody: The chassis and body of this Lotus Elan are sound.
