With the Beetleback bodywork, often called "Beetle tail", this 3-Wheeler is the most sought-after model among the brand's cyclecars, in contrast to the Barrelback model, also known as "Barrel tail". Unlike its predecessors equipped with only a two-speed gearbox, this one has three as well as a reverse gear!
History: This example has a clear and straightforward history since its first owner. The car was delivered new in England in 1934, where it remained until 2014. The current owner bought it from Verrals that same year. The previous owner had kept it for nearly 50 years. Since arriving in France now 10 years ago, the car has undergone a complete restoration. A photo folder detailing it is available.
It is also important to note that the car is sold with its dedicated trailer, braked, tilting, equipped with an electric winch, and registered in France.
Condition:
General: This 3-wheeler is in excellent condition.
Exterior: The car has been entirely reviewed, a good number of parts have been redone or machined: aerogommaged wood case, sandblasted bodywork, sandblasted chassis painted with epoxy, fabrication of the front and rear hood, design of the rear mudguard... The body is very beautiful and has no flaws just like its paint. The rims were redone by Greg Bibby in England with competition-grade stainless steel spokes and are today in excellent condition. The headlights and chrome elements are also in very good condition. The current owner cared that the engine presents a patina similar to the period, which is why it was not repainted. This Morgan also has the original soft-top frame, soft-top, soft-top cover, and tonneau cover, all in very good condition.
Interior: The car's interior is very clean. Just like for the engine, the owner did not want to redo the upholstery; however, it remains in excellent condition. The wooden dashboard has been redone and looks very good.
- Mechanics: Mechanically, the car has benefited from significant restoration work such as:
- The clutch has been reinforced and the drive shaft balanced.
- Chain, gearbox output sprocket, and rear wheel crown changed
- Conversion to hydraulic braking
- Installation of a modern alternator and an electric starter but also retains the crank
- Refurbishment of the bronze swingarm bearing bushes
- Replacement of the steering box, tie rods, and pivots
- Stainless steel exhaust lines
- Reviewed suspensions
- Replacement of the battery, coil, spark plugs, and ignition
- Electrical system updated with a new wiring harness
Today, the car provides a definite driving pleasure. The engine starts perfectly and performs very well. The gearbox, having been overhauled, does not snag.
Undercarriage: The undercarriage of the car is healthy and free of corrosion. Photos are available upon request.
