History
In the 1990s, some customers - hand-picked by Aston Martin - had the option of returning their new Virage to the Newport Pagnell factory to have it dismantled and its bodywork replaced by a larger factory body (this in-house upgrade was worth the cost of a new Virage...)
And, even rarer, some customers also benefited from a new engine, the 6.3 pushing the car to 500 bhp. In addition to the new engine, these rare cars received more powerful brakes, reinforced suspension, special wheels and sportier suspension settings.
Here are some figures and details about this model and our car:
- a total of 24 examples are known worldwide, and only 2 are left-hand drive,
- Our Virage is the only one known in LHD and with a manual gearbox,
- Delivered new in Belgium in 1997, it has only had two owners and currently has Dutch papers,
- It has 19,000 original kilometres and a maintenance history that certifies this low mileage,
Described by Fast Lane magazine as "the most aristocratic of convertibles", our Aston Martin is extremely well documented with invoices from new and meticulous maintenance. A full dossier is supplied with the car, including internal Aston Martin documents showing the complete conversion, carried out at the factory.
This wide-bodied Virage Volante is probably the rarest Aston Martin convertible and the most powerful example with a manual gearbox.
