Our car, one of the few to have been delivered new in France, therefore has the Marchal lights fitted by Franco-Britannic at the time of delivery. The car is fitted with its twin-ignition 7.3 V12 and drives perfectly well. An ingenious engine derived from the Spitfire, it is surprisingly easy and pleasant to use.
This Phantom III is presented in its original colours and condition. The interior is sublime, the original Lalique ceiling light is still there and all the retractable roof elements are functional.
Restored in 1990, the car was fully restored and repainted by Lecoq, and specialist John Little took care of restoring the mechanicals, making the classic engine overheating problem more reliable.
The car is referenced in all the books on the model and is well known to Rolls-Royce enthusiasts. The car took part in a number of rallies and concours d'élégance and won some of them:
- Best of Show in 1993 at the National Rally in the UK
- Hooper Trophy
- Benelux Trophy
A recent appraisal valued the car at €250,000. The car is meticulously maintained every year by its owner, who is a great fan of the marque. He has all the books, magazines and documents relating to the car, dating back to 1937.
