We are pleased to present for sale one of 463 genuine AC Ace Bristol, chassis BEX 1042.


The car was delivered new in 1959 with left-hand drive. Initially owned by a collector from Lyon whom we know, it joined the private collection of the current owner in 2013. The car is well known to AC members; BEX 1042 has always been maintained with great care and is now one of the best examples to be found on the European market.

General state

The original Bristol 933D2 engine has been refurbished by Tony Byford, one of Europe's leading AC specialists. The gearbox, overdrive and brakes all work perfectly. The car has just had a full service.

The aluminium bodywork is in very good overall condition, with a few blemishes visible in the photo gallery. The light grey metallic paintwork looks good, as does the chrome.

The 4-speed gearbox with overdrive is mated to a 125 hp 2.0 Bristol 6-cylinder engine (Type 100 D2), fed by 3 Solex carburettors. An additional electric fan has been added and the cooling radiator has been refurbished.

The original upholstery has been completely redone in magnificent red leather. The red carpets and rugs have also been replaced. The car comes with its navy blue tonneau cover, red soft top with frame and original equipment (spare wheel, Tecalemit lubrication pump).

The underbody is perfectly sound. The car is fitted with 4 Spax shock absorbers and the AVON tyres are about 30% worn.

The car has taken part in several events, including the Rallye des Princesses. It is fully eligible for other events such as the Mille Miglia, Le Mans Classic and the Tour Auto.

The car can be viewed by appointment, and a recent appraisal is on file.
