History
The AC Cobra remains one of the most legendary sports cars in motoring history. It was born out of Carroll Shelby’s vision of combining a British roadster with an American V8. As the original Cobras from the 1960s have become prohibitively expensive, several small manufacturers began producing replicas from the late 1970s onwards. Among them, the American firm Classic Roadsters, based in North Dakota, was one of the sector’s major players, producing up to 80 replicas a month during its heyday.
This example, a replica of the Cobra 427 SC built by Classic Roadsters, was assembled in 1991 with a new engine taken from the Ford Motorsports catalogue of the time. It features a red livery with white centre stripes, a nod to Ford’s victory over Ferrari at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans.
🇫🇷 Our client purchased it from its first owner in April 2024, so it is a second-hand car.
📄 The car is currently registered in France (as a collector’s vehicle). A full inspection was carried out in 2024 and a service has just been completed in 2026, so the car is ready to hit the road. These documents can be viewed in the “Documents” section.

General state
This car is in very good overall condition.
🚘The polyester bodywork is in very good condition. The doors and windows fit well, and the red paintwork with white stripes is even and glossy. The two-tone 15" MiniLite aluminium wheels are in very good condition. The chrome ‘banana’-style bumpers and headlights look excellent. Two original chrome roll bars are supplied with the car; they have never been fitted.
Inside, the upholstery is in very good condition. The polished aluminium dashboard features a full set of VDO instruments with chrome surrounds, all fully functional. The three-spoke wooden steering wheel with a Cobra centre hub is well preserved.
⚙️The Ford Windsor 351 H.O. (High Output) small-block V8, fitted new when the car was built, runs perfectly. It is mated to a reinforced Ford/Borg Warner T5 five-speed manual gearbox and an 8.8-inch Ford rear axle with limited-slip differential. The suspension, original Ford Mustang II, is fitted with KYB gas-filled shock absorbers at both the front and rear. Braking is provided by ventilated discs at the front and drums at the rear. 🛞 BF Goodrich Radial T/A tyres (245/60 R15 at the front and 255/60 R15 at the rear). At the last inspection carried out in 2024, wear was estimated at around 10 per cent on all four tyres. The car has been driven very little since then.
