History
The Alpine A110 1600 S, launched in 1970, represents the technical pinnacle of the famous "Berlinette" thanks to the adoption of the Renault 16 TS engine. This aluminium engine block, initially with a capacity of 1,565 cc, enabled the car to produce around 138 horsepower from a featherweight chassis weighing just 715 kg. Thanks to its exceptional power-to-weight ratio and legendary agility, it dominated international rallies in the early 1970s. Its list of achievements culminated in 1971 with a historic victory at the Monte Carlo Rally, paving the way for Alpine’s World Rally Championship title in 1973.
This example was first registered in January 1971. The current owner purchased it in 2022. The bodywork was rebuilt and the engine underwent a complete overhaul by Ferry Developpement in 2023. The displacement was increased to 1,860 cm³.
