History
This Ford was assembled in two stages. In 1935, the engine and chassis were ordered from Ford by the present owner's great aunt. This woman had a fashion house in Paris, and ordered this car for the 1935 Paris Salon des Maisons de Haute Couture, for which she won first prize for elegance (photos available). The choice of this model made sense: Ford had just launched the first mass-produced V8, a high-performance engine that until then had been little known.
The engine and chassis were delivered to Paul Née's workshops in Levallois for bodybuilding. As a result, the car was delivered with a kilometre-hour counter rather than a mileage counter.
Because of fuel shortages during the war, the car was put away, discreetly tucked away at the back of a barn. So discreetly hidden that it was forgotten after the war and never driven again. It waited more than 40 years before seeing the light of day again when this lady's nephew, the current owner, recovered it in 1982.
In 1991, he launched a complete restoration. She came out of it in 1996.
Since then, the car has been driven regularly and has benefited from regular maintenance. To this day, it remains in superb condition, capable of covering any distance at astonishing speeds for a car from the 1930s. It still has its original engine and gearbox.

General state
For its age, this Ford is in very good condition.
Exterior: The bodywork is in excellent condition. The green and black paintwork was redone during the restoration and now has a very nice patina. The soft top was refurbished a few years ago. The chrome, from the imposing radiator grille to the wheel trims, has a very nice shine, although some would appreciate some attention to the bumpers.
Interior: The cabin is also in very good condition. The green leather was redone at the time of the restoration and has been well maintained since. The woodwork has been refinished, with the exception of the dashboard, to reflect the car's bygone years. The speedometer and water temperature gauge are working. The fuel gauge needs to be reconnected. An oil pressure gauge has been discreetly added in the glove box.
Mechanicals:
=> This almost one hundred year old car is in perfect working order and capable of covering any distance. It's not a museum car, but a car that lives, capable of really going out. It has been maintained with this in mind.
=> The V8 starts up very well and runs very smoothly, with surprising torque and a very pleasant sound. It was also overhauled during the restoration. The last overhaul was in 2023. An aluminium expansion tank has been added to improve cooling reliability. The gearbox, although not synchronised, is very smooth for a pre-war car.
=> Roadholding is reassuring for a car of its era. The brakes were rebuilt in 2023 and the steering has no excessive play. Once you've got the hang of it, you realise that the handling is good. The level of performance is astonishing: you can easily cruise on the secondary network at 80/90 km/h. On the motorway, you can maintain an average speed of 110 km/h without forcing yourself, with possible peaks of 130 km/h.
Structure: The chassis has been completely restored and is very sound. The beech wood parts have been redone. To the best of the owner's knowledge, the car has never been in an accident.
