History
Launched in 1989 as the successor to the legendary R107, the Mercedes SL R129 marked a major technological turning point by introducing cutting-edge innovations.
Designed by the iconic Bruno Sacco, its sleek and timeless lines have stood the test of time, featuring prestigious engines ranging from the elegant 6-cylinder to the V12. Production ceased in 2001.
Our example is a third-generation SL 280 powered by the brand-new M112 engine with three valves per cylinder. This V6 replaces the older straight-six engines. It offers greater flexibility and is more efficient. This example is fitted with the very rare 5-speed manual gearbox; only 850 units were produced.

This SL is in very good overall condition.
The bodywork is in very good condition, with no dents or rust. The blue paintwork has a lovely depth and is smooth and even. There is a very slight scuff mark visible on the front bumper. The headlight lenses are in very good condition. The riveted alloy wheels are in excellent condition. This car comes with its original body-coloured hardtop. The blue alpaca soft top is fully functional and in perfect condition.
Inside the cabin, the beige leather electric seats are very well preserved. They show slight signs of ageing and offer good support. The wooden centre console is in very good condition, as is the steering wheel. There are some minor imperfections on the door panels. The headlining of both the soft top and the hardtop is taut. The interior fittings are in working order.
The 2.8-litre V6 engine starts normally. The engine revs smoothly and delivers its power linearly. The 5-speed gearbox encourages a smooth driving style. The running gear is in very good condition, resulting in excellent road holding.
