Presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1955, the MGA followed in the tradition of the small British roadsters of the 1950s and 1960s. Initially designed for competition, the MGA possessed real dynamic and mechanical qualities. It is a British car full of character, with some of its lines inspired by the Jaguar XK140.
Our example, in excellent condition, has been prepared for racing (1956 Le Mans type) and has undergone numerous cosmetic and mechanical improvements. It is eligible for many classic car races and finished the 2020 Tour Auto as well as the Coupe des Alpes in 2018.
History:
This MGA was delivered new in 1956. It was imported to France from England in 2016 by its current owner.
Condition:
This MGA is in very good presentation condition and has benefited from many recent expenses: the mechanics have been fully restored by specialists: the engine, gearbox, brakes, carburetion, ignition... everything has been refurbished.
Exterior: The bodywork is very attractive, with no major defects. The chrome, spoked wheels, headlights and glazing are in very good condition. The tonneau cover is also in very good condition and shows no holes or tears.
Interior: The cabin has been very well maintained. The upholstery, carpets and woodwork are in excellent condition. The seats offer good support and all the instrumentation is functional.
Mechanicals: The car completed the 2020 Tour Auto without any mechanical problems. As a precaution, the engine was completely rebuilt in 2021. The suspension and braking systems are good, and the car handles very well on the road. The car starts up normally, and gear changes are seamless. The 1.8 MG B engine has been rebuilt, with a reinforced crankshaft, liner kit and new pistons.
Chassis and underpinnings : The chassis and underpinnings are sound and free from corrosion.
Consumables: 4 new AVON 175/70R15 tyres installed in July 2022.
