History
This “Vert Cendrée” Renault Dauphine was delivered brand new in December 1956 to its first owner, Mr Momot, by the Renault dealership in the Yonne department.
Mr Momot drove the car until 1978, before storing it at his home. It remained in storage for several decades.
In 2011, Mr Momot’s family rediscovered the car. They then had the engine overhauled and the necessary work carried out to get it back on the road, whilst taking great care to preserve its authenticity and original condition.
Very few examples from 1956 have survived. This early, intact and ‘untouched’ example is now a true rarity.
The FIVA commissioners have confirmed the car’s originality by awarding it an A1 classification on its passport – the highest category in terms of authenticity.

🏁 Preparation & the Mille Miglia
In 2018, the Dauphine was purchased by Geert Kistemaker, a young classic car enthusiast, with a specific aim in mind: to take part in the Mille Miglia, often described as “the most beautiful race in the world”.
With this in mind:
The engine has been slightly tuned, without compromising the car’s originality, to ensure a comfortable cruising speed of 90 to 100 km/h.
The handling was optimised to meet the demands of an endurance race.
The car is fully eligible for the Mille Miglia and was among the very first to be awarded the 1000 Miglia Registro, a certification that is now essential for entry into the event.
Still registered under its original French number plate DA-107-VK, it was transferred to Belgium in 2021.
It is entered and officially accepted for the 2022, 2023 and 2026 editions of the Mille Miglia, where the car shone thanks to its reliability and robustness.
During these three participations:
The Dauphine proved to be extremely reliable
No mechanical work was required
It achieved very respectable results for a car in this category
🔧 Post-Mille Miglia 2023 work
Following the 2023 event, extensive work was carried out to maintain the car’s high level of reliability:
Clutch replacement
Radiator replacement
Full suspension overhaul
Steering overhaul
Braking system overhaul
An invoice for approximately €10,000 is available.
🔧 Post-Mille Miglia 2026 work
General overhaul of the car
New consumables
