Overall: This GTI G60 certainly shows some slight signs of use but exhibits a remarkable state of preservation, close to its original condition.
Exterior: Although there are a few minor blemishes, they are discreetly integrated into the overall finish of the body, which is in excellent condition. The rims show their history and are in excellent condition, although some would appreciate the characteristic screws to be restored to their former glory. The plastics, often indicative of wear and tear, are in excellent condition, as are the headlights, mirrors and windows.
Interior: The interior shows the attention to detail and respect accorded to this vehicle over the years. Only the gearshift bellows show signs of wear. The steering wheel, seats, dashboard and all other components are in excellent condition. All on-board equipment is functional.
Powertrain: The 4-cylinder engine, equipped with the G-lader compressor characteristic of this Golf GTI, starts up without a hitch, revs well and delivers all its power with a particularly pleasant sound. Following in the footsteps of the legendary first-generation Golf GTi in 1984, the second iteration of the model continued to evolve throughout its seven-year career, multiplying variants on the unchanging base of the famous 1781 cm3 four-cylinder engine - even turning to solutions little used by the competition. Such was the case with the famous "G" compressor (named after its spiral shape) which, from the end of the '80s, spread to all levels of the VW range. For its part, the GTi rigged in this way uses the Rallye's powertrain, but the vast majority of G60s built did not receive the Syncro transmission - with non-permanent four-wheel drive - that characterized the Rallye. Its 160 hp and generous torque can be exploited over a wide range of applications; this is the most tangible benefit of the compressor which, unlike a turbo, has no response time as it is driven continuously. The rarity of this machine, which appeared at the end of the Golf II's career, and its driving pleasure make it an extremely desirable car!
