History
This Golf I GTI 1600 rolled off the production line in 1982.
Between 1997 and 2014, the car is believed to have been owned by the same person. It was then acquired by a first garage that same year, followed by a second in 2018, before being sold to the current owner in 2024.
Extensive mechanical work has been carried out to restore its original handling characteristics.
The car is now in very good condition. It is the perfect ‘youngtimer’ for leisure driving or rally preparation.

General state
The bodywork and paintwork are sound and look very good. The colour, ‘Alpinweiss’ white, is the original. The window seals, headlights and wheel rims are in good condition.
The interior is generally in good condition. The KL-pattern upholstery is original. We note signs of wear here and there (a tear in the side of the driver’s seat, a few holes, etc.). Nevertheless, the foam padding remains in good condition and has not sagged.
The dashboard instruments are in working order, apart from the ventilation system, whose selector switch is stuck. The car radio is fitted but not connected. The owner states that the coolant temperature warning light flashes from time to time. This is due to the wiring harness and not the car’s cooling system.
The car is in very good mechanical condition; it starts without any noise or abnormal smoke. The road handling is very good. The car has recently undergone extensive work, the details of which can be seen below. A compression test was carried out a few months ago; the results were very good. This can be viewed in the ‘Documents’ section. A wheel alignment has also been carried out.
The owner also states that the following work has recently been carried out: an oil change and top-up of all fluids, replacement of the air and fuel filters, spark plugs and the accessory belt… The future owner will need to have the idle speed adjusted.
