The Porsche 997.1 Turbo, launched in 2006, marked a significant evolution by being the first 911 Turbo to offer electronically controlled all-wheel drive as an option. It was powered by a twin-turbo version of the 480bhp 3.6-litre 'Mezger' engine, and was the first production car in the world to use variable geometry turbochargers (VTG) on a petrol engine, offering exceptional response time and torque at all engine speeds. This model quickly became a benchmark for everyday super-sports cars, combining top performance with Porsche reliability.
