History

This Golf 1 GTI is a genuine "French" model, delivered new by the Europe Auto dealership in Perpignan in November 1981. Currently in the hands of its fifth owner, it has been carefully maintained over the decades. Its mileage history is traceable, with records of various MOT tests dating back over 30 years. It is sold with its original vehicle documentation, delivery note and a file containing numerous invoices for parts and accessories.

General state

🚘 The car is in a condition very close to that in which it left the factory. The bodywork, in Alpine White, is in a fine, unrestored original condition. Whilst a few parts have been given a light coat of paint in the past to preserve their shine (rear wings, doors, side skirts), the overall appearance is excellent. Noteworthy features include a four-headlight grille and period Seral alloy wheels (including the spare wheel, which has never been used), giving it an authentic ‘period’ look.

Inside, the original black and red fabric upholstery is in good condition. The dashboard, a critical point on these models, is free from cracks. Only the rear shelf shows some signs of wear. The entire interior reflects a vehicle that has been well looked after by its successive owners.

Mechanics:
🔧 The 1600cc fuel-injected engine (Type EG) starts perfectly from cold, with no unusual noises or smoke. The car has undergone a major overhaul of the fuel system: the fuel pump, sensors and pipes are new, whilst the injectors have been checked. The ignition system has also been overhauled.

The braking system (discs at the front, drums at the rear) is effective and was approved during the last MOT in July 2024. The road holding is sound, with a well-balanced suspension. It should be noted, as is often the case with these original models, that there is superficial corrosion on the underbody and deformed lifting points; these details are disclosed in full transparency for prospective buyers.
