History
When it was launched in 1987, the Lancia Delta HF 4WD was initially fitted with a Volumex supercharger. It subsequently switched to a turbocharger when it was upgraded to the Lancia Delta Integrale in October of the same year. These early versions of the Delta proved immediately formidable in competition, winning the World Rally Championship in 1987 and 1988. From its international debut, the 8-valve Integrale triumphed at the 1988 Rally of Portugal. By the end of the 1989 season, it had already racked up a further 13 World Championship victories.
This Lancia Delta Integrale Group A 8-valve is an extremely rare example, one of the very first chassis built by Abarth as part of the official competition programme. A works car, it was originally registered in Turin by Abarth (TO-42242H), then in charge of FIAT’s competition department, working in direct collaboration with Lancia’s Squadra Corse.
Competing in the Turkish championship at the time, it has a history of participation in several rounds of the World Rally Championship and the national championship.
The Milano Racing team acquired it around ten years ago, entered it in competition and completely rebuilt it before selling it to our client.
The car was restored to the highest standards by Milano Racing prior to its acquisition; the Abarth bodywork was stripped down, sandblasted, treated and repainted. It retains all its original Abarth competition mechanical components:
Abarth Group A 8-valve engine producing 300 hp,
Abarth R70 Group A dog-clutch transmission (6-speed gearbox),
Abarth competition suspension,
Abarth shock absorbers with modern 3-way cartridges.
The car features its original livery from when it raced in Turkey in Castrol colours.
Fully compliant with Abarth specifications and maintained by a specialist tuner, this Delta has been serviced and is ready to race, with its FIA PTH and all safety certifications up to date (bucket seats, harnesses, etc.).
It is currently set up for gravel, not tarmac, just as it was in the Turkish championship at the time, but it can easily be converted by replacing its shock absorbers and wheels.
This car competed in the 2017 French Gravel Championship and won the Rallye Terre du Diois. The car is ready for competition use and comes with its original ACI documentation, its Passaporto Tecnico, and its valid FIA PTH.
