History
This AC Ace (chassis AEX 180) was the first AC Ace to be imported and sold in France by Garage Chardonnet in 1957 – AC’s French importer at the time. It was the first of 14 Ace models sold in France.
Having been taken to the USA in 1960, the car returned to France in 2016 and has a complete history dating back to its departure. The full list of owners is known, and the car has had an exciting life between France and the USA.
Only 223 AC Ace ‘DITTON’ models (fitted with the famous AC 6 Light engine designed by John Weller, founder of AC Cars Ltd) were produced out of a total of 723 cars across all models.
Our AC Ace was configured from the outset for competition and features extremely rare options:
the latest generation of the AC 6 Light engine,
a lightweight aluminium gearbox (only 7 units built),
a short gear lever,
a ‘LE MANS’ fuel cap
and a limited-slip differential (rare)
The car is fitted with an AC-CLBN engine block, the latest evolution of the more powerful AC 6 Light engine for competition, number #CLBN912463-W. The block was fitted in the 1970s by the second owner.
