History
With only a few thousand units produced between 1979 and 1983, the Méhari 4x4 is now one of the most sought-after versions of the model. Thanks to its four-wheel drive, increased ground clearance and low-range gearbox, it stands out clearly from the classic Méhari and offers genuine off-road capabilities.
The example shown here was first registered in France in February 1982. This Méhari has had only four owners. Its bodywork was restored in 2023, at which time the tubular chassis was replaced.

General state
The bodywork looks excellent in its Montana Green colour. The ABS panels are in good overall condition and retain an attractive overall appearance. The black tarpaulin is in good condition, as are the flexible windows. The original alloy wheels and the equipment specific to the 4x4 version have been retained.
The interior is also in good condition. The black imitation leather seats look good and the dashboard is in good condition. The specific controls for the four-wheel drive and differential lock are present and contribute to the unique character of this version. The hour meter is no longer working.
The twin-cylinder engine starts and runs normally. The car was brought back into service and underwent a mechanical service in 2021, including an oil change, cleaning of the fuel system, and the replacement of the battery and ignition components. Further work has also been carried out on the braking system, the exhaust, the chassis and the tyres.
