History
The 512 BBi is the fuel-injected version of the Berlinetta Boxer, unveiled by Ferrari in 1981. Fitted with a Formula 1-inspired flat-12 engine, it succeeded the Daytona and epitomised the era of Pininfarina’s great mid-engined coupés. This example is one of the last 141 to roll off the production line.
This 512 BBi was delivered new in March 1984 by the Symbol Car dealership in Turin. It has retained its original Nero Carbonio black paintwork and cream leather upholstery. Its first owner was the company Edelweiss di Sereno Barberis Negra & C., with the Italian registration number VC423583. It then passed into the hands of the company Bielle Cascani Tessili, and subsequently, in 1996, to Mr Enrico Perin in Mozzate.
In 2014, it was purchased by Maranello Service, which sold it on to a French company based in Cannes. This sale was accompanied by a complete restoration carried out by Maranello Service. The paintwork was entirely redone. The upholstery was refurbished whilst retaining the original leather. The mechanical components underwent a major overhaul: suspension parts were restored and galvanised, the shock absorbers were serviced, the engine was fully overhauled with all seals and wear parts replaced, engine block and sump repainted or galvanised, clutch replaced, air-conditioning compressor replaced, a freer-flowing exhaust fitted, water, oil and air-conditioning hoses checked and replaced where necessary, and the electrical system overhauled. This restoration is documented by invoices and photographs and cost a total of €105,000. The car had then clocked up approximately 58,000 kilometres.
In February 2022, its fuel injection system was overhauled: the seals on both Kjetronic control units were removed and replaced, and its fuel pressure accumulators were changed.
Its current owner purchased it in December 2022. In 2023, it underwent a full service: the timing belts and water pump were replaced, as was the clutch.
