History
The Jaguar E-Type was launched in 1961 at the Geneva Motor Show. Enzo Ferrari described it as the most beautiful car ever built. The Series 1 2+2 version with a 4.2-litre engine, introduced in 1966, offered two additional seats at the rear without compromising the original design — a rare balance of elegance and practicality for a large sports coupé.
This particular car rolled off the production line in Coventry on 24 June 1966 and was delivered to Royal Elysées Paris for its first owner, before passing through the hands of Mr Andason (1971–1973), Mr Morel (1974–1993), Mr Hutin (1994), Mr Guillien (1997–2009), and finally the current owner since 2009 — that is, six owners in sixty years, with a file of invoices covering the car’s entire history since 1970.

General state
This example is in fine overall condition, with a remarkably comprehensive history file. Matching-number engine.
The bodywork displays excellent colour consistency in its elegant Opalescent Blue. The bodywork alignment is satisfactory and the panels are well-fitted. There are a few slight signs of wear, consistent with the car’s age, which do not detract from its very fine overall appearance. The chrome spoke wheels are in good condition. The headlights are well preserved and the chrome trim, particularly on the grille and bumpers, has a lovely shine.
The interior is particularly inviting. The midnight blue vinyl upholstery has developed a lovely patina. The seats remain firm. The dashboard is in good condition, with no visible cracks. The original wooden steering wheel is perfectly in keeping with the car’s character. The instrument cluster is complete and functional (though the rev counter can be a little erratic at times).
The 4.2-litre straight-six engine starts easily, revs smoothly and delivers all the characteristic sound of a Jaguar E-Type, thanks to its stainless steel exhaust. The four-speed manual gearbox offers precise and pleasant gear changes. The handling is sound, balanced and exactly what one would expect from a well-maintained E-Type.
