Jaguar Type E Series 1 1963 / Manual

The car was delivered new to New York. The current owner bought it in 2004 through a professional. In 2008, he undertook a full restoration that lasted 4 years.


Condition :

General: This car is in remarkable condition, close to its condition when it came out of restoration.

Exterior: The bodywork has been very well restored to its original colour. The chrome, wheel rims, headlights and all the exterior trim are in excellent condition.

Interior: The red leather interior is remarkably well finished. This colour contrasts beautifully with the light exterior. All the on-board equipment works, even the watch!
Mechanical: The car has covered just 8,000 kilometres since restoration, with regular use since then and serious maintenance. As a result, its overall running is excellent. During the restoration, the original engine block was rectified and fitted with new pistons, crankshaft and camshafts. The idle is very stable, proof of a well-balanced and perfectly tuned engine. Overall, the engine's sealing is good. A few 'normal' micro-seepages are nevertheless visible, typical of any old Jaguar. Cooling has been made more reliable with an aluminium radiator and a reinforced fan. The running gear has also been refurbished. Handling is both supple and efficient, without the slightest vibration. The KONI shock absorbers provide a pleasant ride. The original Moss gearbox has been very well rebuilt, and is even pleasant in the standard way these gearboxes operate. The original disc brakes work well.

Underbody: The technical parts and underpinnings are very sound. No traces of impact were found during the bare chassis restoration. The "Eiffel Tower" is still the original one, checked, to the correct dimensions.
