History
We present to you this Jaguar E-Type Series 1, in superb condition. It left the Jaguar factory on 31 May 1962, just a few weeks after the end of the "flat floor" series, and was completely restored around ten years ago.
Often described as "the most beautiful of Jaguars", this Series 1 E-type is also one of the most sought-after, thanks to its pure lines, aluminium dashboard, bucket seats and the racy handling of its in-line 6.
The Jaguar Heritage certificate confirms that this car is chassis/engine/head/colour matched (exterior and interior).
Chassis
On deck, the frame rails, engine mount (Eiffel Tower), wheel arches and floorboards are all in excellent condition. The original brakes have been replaced by "Coopercraft" brakes, significantly improving on the original "retarder". The shock absorbers are new.
Engine & transmission
Oil pressure is within the manufacturer's recommendations, both hot and cold. The engine revs well with a characteristic noise and has a stable idle, without overheating. Starting is easy, both hot and cold. The previous owner had a fully synchronised 4.2-litre gearbox fitted for easier driving. The original Moss gearbox is supplied with the car.
Bodywork
The car's exterior is in very good condition, despite some minor scratches from use. The chromework is very attractive, as are the spoked wheels and central butterfly valve.
Interior
The interior of this car is in excellent condition. The cartier red seats and door panels retain a superb patina. The boot carpet is in keeping with the vehicle's year.
Possible takeover Porsche 930.
