History
The Corvette C2 “Sting Ray” is the second generation of the model. It was launched in 1963. Its design was the work of Bill Mitchell and Larry Shinoda. It was the first Corvette to feature independent rear suspension. The coupé is distinguished by its fastback silhouette and pop-up headlights. In 1965, Chevrolet introduced the rare 396 ci Big Block engine, an option that is highly sought-after today.
This example was first registered in September 1965. It was originally painted in Milano Red. It was repainted black in 2021. It comes with a classic car registration certificate. The car has just undergone a five-year restoration, documented by a comprehensive file of invoices. The work covered the engine, the wiring harness, the brakes and the interior, which has been completely refurbished.

🚘 The coupé has a black body. The paintwork, which was repainted in 2021, has a few cracks in places. These give the car an authentic look. The original chrome knock-off spoke wheels are fitted with white-wall tyres that are as good as new (fitted in 2023). The side-pipes are fitted with a Hooker Super Competition system, delivering a distinctive sound.
The interior is as good as new. The upholstery and carpets have been completely refitted. The dashboard instruments are in working order. The rev counter, however, is not currently connected.
⚙️ The 396ci Big Block V8 has been overhauled. The Holley carburettor and MSD ignition have been replaced, as have the battery, fuel tank and wiring harnesses. The 4-speed Muncie manual gearbox, paired with a Hurst Competition shifter, offers crisp gear changes. The chassis is in excellent condition. The MOT is valid until February 2028, with no faults reported.
The seller is including an additional front bumper, a protective cover and various parts from the restoration as part of the sale.
