In 1970, Chevrolet introduced the LT-1 engine in the Corvette. This engine was aimed at reducing insurance costs and improving performance for racing enthusiasts. To reach 370 horsepower, it featured forged aluminum pistons, a high compression ratio, and an aluminum intake. The LT-1 was produced in limited quantities, with only 1,287 units out of the 17,316 Corvettes manufactured that year.
It is also crucial to note that starting from 1971, Chevrolet had to significantly limit the power of its Corvettes (in terms of air intake and carburation) due to emission regulations. Therefore, the 1970 model, being more powerful, is especially prized.

History: This Corvette was delivered new in the United States in 1970. In 2015, it arrived in France to the delight of the current owner. He then undertook a complete restoration of the car. We have the full restoration file.

Condition:
Overall: The car is in excellent condition, both mechanically and aesthetically.

Exterior: The bodywork of this LT-1 is in very good condition. The paint, in Laguna Grey, is original and in very good condition. The rims are in new condition, with sparkling chrome. The headlight optics are in excellent condition, and their retractable system works as well as the windshield wiper system, whose motor has been changed.

Interior: The interior of this Corvette is in very good condition, with its original leather upholstery showing a nice state of preservation. The seats maintain their integrity and show no holes or tears. The dashboard and door trim stand out for their cleanliness, and the wood inserts are in good condition. The car's electricity has been made reliable, thus, all the dashboard instruments are functional.

Mechanics: The majority of the restoration work on the vehicle was focused on its mechanics. Thus, today the car is reliable and ready to cover miles as it did in 1970 when it first hit the road. The V8 starts very well and properly accelerates up to deliver its full power at 6,000 rpm. The 4-speed gearbox has been completely rebuilt, allowing for smooth gear changes. Power steering and braking were optional at the time for this car but were not equipped. The current owner has had them installed to facilitate and secure the use of the LT-1.
