History
The E-Type made automotive history when it was launched in 1961. Its styling, by Malcolm Sayer, remains a benchmark in automotive design. The 4.2 version, introduced in 1964, featured a fully synchronised gearbox and improved brakes. The 2+2 coupé arrived in 1966. It featured a longer wheelbase and two additional seats at the rear. Just over 4,200 examples of this 2+2 coupé in the 4.2-litre version were produced between 1966 and 1968.
This particular car was delivered new to New York in May 1966. At the time, it was cream-coloured and fitted with an automatic gearbox. It underwent a complete restoration starting in 2006. The engine was reconditioned in 2011. It has now been repainted in grey and fitted with a manual gearbox with overdrive. It has been owned by the same owner since 2015. The car comes with its certificate of authenticity from the Jaguar Heritage Trust.

This example is in excellent condition. A recent independent valuation (Expertise & Collection, April 2026) estimates its value at €89,000 including VAT.
🚘The bodywork is in excellent condition and shows no signs of distortion. The valuation report indicates that there are no visible signs of accident damage. The paintwork is glossy and uniform. The bonnet has recently been restored. The windscreen is free from chips or cracks. The headlights, rear lights and wheel trims are in very good condition. The chrome trim is in good condition, with a few very slight marks on the bumpers. The spoked wheels are in good condition.
Inside the cabin, the dashboard is in very good condition. The instrument cluster is fully functional. The red Cartier leather upholstery is in very good condition, with a lovely patina. The floor mats show no signs of wear. The boot is in very good condition and comes with an original Jaguar tool kit.
⚙️The 6-cylinder engine, fed by three SU carburettors, starts normally. Gear changes are smooth. The engine feels smooth and powerful on a test drive. The brakes have been refurbished (new discs, reconditioned 4-piston calipers) and are currently being run in. No signs of corrosion have been found on the underbody.
🛞Michelin XVS 185HR15 tyres, manufactured in June 2021, with approximately 25 per cent tread remaining.
