History
First unveiled in 1961, the Jaguar E-Type was immediately hailed as “the most beautiful car in the world” thanks to its avant-garde design by Malcolm Sayer. The introduction of the 4.2-litre engine in October 1964 marked a significant evolution of the Series 1, substantially improving torque and offering a more enjoyable driving experience. The 4235 cm³ XK inline six-cylinder engine, fed by three SU carburettors, retained its 265 ch output but delivered markedly more powerful acceleration. Furthermore, the 4.2 L models featured a new fully synchronised four-speed manual gearbox, addressing a weakness in the 3.8 L version. Other improvements in this sub-series included new seats and a more effective braking system. The Series 1 4.2 L roadster is one of the most sought-after models amongst collectors for its balance between the pure design of the first series and its mechanical improvements. Today, it is a timeless icon of the sports car.

This car is in very good overall condition.
The bodywork is in excellent condition. The green paintwork looks very good. It has a lovely sheen and is well applied. The headlight lenses are in very good condition. The spoked wheels are new. The black soft top shows slight signs of wear.
Inside the cabin, the beige leather seats are very well preserved. It is worth noting that the leather on the back of the driver’s seat is slightly marked. The wooden steering wheel is slightly cracked at the top of the rim. The dashboard and centre console are in very good condition. The car has a pre-wired connection for a car radio. The floor mats and carpets look very good. The instrument cluster is in working order.
⚙️The XK six-cylinder engine is indeed the original one. It starts normally and revs up smoothly. The synchronised gearbox shifts smoothly and without any grinding. The handling is good.
