History
An iconic post-war coupé, the Lancia Aurelia B20 GT is often regarded
as the first modern ‘Gran Turismo’. Produced from 1951 to 1958 in a run of 3,871
units across six series, it was designed by Boano and built by Pinin Farina. It
featured the V6 engine first introduced in the Aurelia saloon – the world’s first production V6 – and,
from the 4th series onwards, a De Dion rear axle. Lightweight, precise and well-balanced, it enjoyed
numerous successes in competition, from the Mille Miglia to the Monte Carlo Rally.
This example is one of the last produced in the sixth and final series. It left the factory as a
left-hand drive (B20 S for ‘Sinistra’) with floor-mounted gear lever. According to the
seller, it is in its original configuration and has undergone a comprehensive,
high-quality restoration carried out in Italy: bodywork, mechanics, running gear and interior. It is
listed in the reference book *Lancia Aurelia Gran Turismo* by Gino Giugno and Loris
Chioetto.
Imported into France, it has been registered as a ‘classic car’ since 12
April 2019 in the name of its current owner, who had it serviced by specialists in the Basque
Country.
