History
This Maserati Mexico is a one-off prototype built by Carrozzeria Frua. Unveiled as a world premiere on the coachbuilder’s stand at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1968, it embodies designer Pietro Frua’s most elegant vision, evoking in particular the lines of the Aga Khan’s legendary 5000 GT. After being displayed as a show car at Frua, it returned to the Maserati workshops to be completed mechanically.
Delivered new in March 1970 to the Spanish importer Auto Paris, based in Barcelona. The car remained in Spain for 50 years, passing through the hands of two owners, including a Catalan collector who kept it for 33 years.

General state
In 2013, it joined a major Belgian collection and underwent a complete restoration:
the bodywork was fully restored by the Philippe Vilain workshop in Brussels, whilst the mechanical components were restored by a specialist in the make.
The current owner purchased it at Bonhams in 2015 and has continued to maintain this unique example to a high standard.
An extremely rare feature for a prototype, the burgundy leather interior is entirely original and superbly preserved. It boasts an authentic patina, complete with its bespoke instruments and horizontal clock between the front seats
