History
This elegant 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280 SE 3.5 coupé is of German origin, having been registered in Cologne (Köln) in February 1971. It has benefited from a complete and documented restoration carried out in Germany, notably by the M. Borchert workshop (Bosch approved), with numerous interventions on the bodywork, underpinnings, paintwork and interior. It was then imported into France with a clean bill of health in March 2024.
Conditions
This copy is in excellent overall condition, both aesthetically and mechanically, with a clear history and full documentation.
Exterior
The bodywork of this 280 SE 3.5 is beautifully finished in a uniform metallic blue paint, with no visible chips or dents. The chrome is in excellent condition, perfectly shiny with no pitting. The wheels are original, and also in very good condition. The bumpers and mouldings are straight and well aligned. The structure is sound, as the restoration file attests.
Interior
The dark blue leather upholstery is in excellent condition, with no dents or noticeable wear. The woodwork on the dashboard and door panels is well preserved. The carpets are clean and the period equipment works. The original steering wheel is also in very good condition. The interior as a whole reflects a prestige car that has been well cared for and maintained.
Mechanical
The original 3.5L V8 engine works perfectly, with no smoke or abnormal noises. The automatic gearbox is smooth. The March 2024 roadworthiness test was favourable, with very good braking values. The vehicle has a clear history and a full technical file (restoration records, German registration document, etc.). Roadholding is very satisfactory, with comfortable suspension and excellent stability.
