History
Launched in 1954 to offer a more affordable and comfortable alternative to the legendary 300 SL, the 190 SL was based on a ‘Ponton’ saloon chassis. It was fitted with a 1.9-litre four-cylinder engine producing 105 hp, mated to a four-speed manual gearbox. This two-seater convertible was a huge commercial success, with over 25,000 units produced, winning over celebrities such as Grace Kelly and Miles Davis.
🇳🇱 This Mercedes-Benz 190 SL was first registered on 1 July 1959 in the Netherlands.
🇫🇷 This SL was imported into France in 2009. It is now registered as a classic car. Its current owner purchased it at an auction held by Aguttes in Lyon on 8 November 2014.
The car has a documented history, including several invoices, valuation reports and administrative documents spanning over a decade. It underwent a complete restoration in 2008 and is now presented in a condition faithful to the original, both aesthetically and mechanically.

General state
The car is in very good overall condition.
🚘 The bodywork presents a fine overall appearance, consistent with the vehicle’s age. The DB620 ivory white paintwork has been repainted and has a beautiful sheen. The chrome trim and original alloy wheels with hubcaps are generally very well preserved. The black alpaca soft top is in perfect condition and its mechanism operates normally. The bodywork is sound and free from corrosion. The body seals and exterior components have been replaced.
The interior is in excellent condition, having been fully restored. The red leather seats and trim have been refurbished to new condition and feature a remarkable quality of finish. The carpets and door panels have also been refurbished, in keeping with the original configuration. The dashboard is in very fine condition. All the on-board instrumentation is fully functional. The car is fitted with a period Becker Europas car radio.
⚙️ The entire mechanical system has been restored and runs perfectly. The various works carried out over the years, particularly on the carburetion, ignition and engine settings, ensure the whole system runs smoothly. The gearbox allows for smooth and well-guided gear changes. The road handling is very good.
