History
Launched in 1959, the Austin Healey 3000 is one of the defining models of the post-war British roadster. The final phase, the BJ8 model, introduced in 1964, is distinguished by its wind-up side windows, a more refined dashboard and enhanced comfort, whilst retaining the spirited character of its six-cylinder engine. Produced until 1967, it remains one of the most sought-after Healeys amongst collectors today.
This particular example was originally registered in 1966, before being imported and registered in France in 2013. Before being acquired by the current owner in 2018, the car underwent a complete and fully documented mechanical restoration: a total overhaul of the engine (crankshaft, pistons, cylinder head, timing, new SU carburettors), the clutch, the braking system and the suspension, as well as the fitting of electric power steering. Maintained since 2018 by its current owner in the Var, it has been driven regularly and serviced by a specialist garage in Bandol.

This Austin Healey 3000 BJ8 is in very good overall condition, following a thorough mechanical restoration.
🚘The bodywork features a two-tone red and ivory paint scheme, which is in good overall condition. The chrome spoke wheels and exterior chrome fittings (bumpers, door handles, roof rack) are in good condition. The soft top is black.
The interior is upholstered in black leather, complemented by a dashboard finished in varnished elm burl veneer, typical of the later Healey models. The original Smiths instruments are present and in working order.
⚙️The engine underwent a complete rebuild prior to acquisition by the current owner (crankshaft, pistons, liners, cylinder head, timing system, new SU HD8 carburettors, electronic ignition). The clutch, braking system and suspension were also fully overhauled at the same time. Electric power steering has been fitted for added comfort. The overdrive system was reconditioned in 2020.

🔩 Recent work:
Prior to acquisition (2016–2018), a complete mechanical restoration was carried out for the previous owner:
- engine overhaul (crankshaft, pistons, piston rings, cylinder head, timing system, new SU HD8 carburettors, 123 electronic ignition);
- overhaul of the clutch, braking system (master cylinder, discs, calipers, brake pads) and suspension;
- fitting of EASY Power Steering electric power steering;
- replacement of the complete stainless steel exhaust system.
- 2020 – Garage Llopis (Bandol):
- repair of the overdrive’s electrical system;
- replacement of the alternator, ignition coil and spark plugs.
