History
Whilst the majority of 3500 GT coupés were bodied by Touring, production of the Spyder was entrusted to Carrozzeria Vignale, based on a design by Giovanni Michelotti. This example is one of only 245 Spyders ever produced, making it a particularly rare variant compared to the coupé versions
Built in July 1960, this Spyder was delivered new on 30 June 1961 and then exported to California, where it was registered that same year. It was subsequently purchased by a Dutch collector in 1989, who kept it until 2014.

During this period (2000/2001), it underwent a full restoration, including a complete engine overhaul and high-quality bodywork and paintwork. The car’s upholstery has also been restored, as have the soft top and carpets.
It was purchased in 2019 at Bonhams by the current owner, who has driven it regularly and had it serviced by a specialist Maserati mechanic. Carefully maintained since then, this Maserati is in superb overall condition and will require no further expenditure from its future owner.
